Mishakeek (plural), mishkok (singular) is an Omani food I love. One of my favourite things is to go for a walk down to Ghubra Lake park in Al Athaiba as the sun goes down, follow the boardwalk down the beach, and at the end of the road buy the most delicious lamb mishakeek. They also have a kind of Zanzibari soup. Seeb's mishakeek stands are famous for their chicken and squid mishkok sticks. I tend to buy from these, or make my own.
I am wary though, of buying mishakeek from people who I KNOW don't normally sell mishakeek at the road side.
Because like chinese food back where I come from, I have a horror story from Rustaq. Someone admitted to me as a child he killed a cat and grilled it up as mishakeek, and sold it to the locals in Rustaq. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
So I stick to Athaiba or generally grill my own. Who doesn't love a good barbecue anyways?
