Omani designer Hanna Al Wohaibi's collection of Omani traditional dress for 2012 saw the use of brightly coloured fabrics, and the loosening up of more commonly structured forms in the cut of the garments. I absolutely adored her takes on the Sharqiyah "suri" [first photo pictured on this post] and the tail attachment on the grey velvet dhofari number had my love (and future appointment at a tailor to recreate---a combo between the practicality of the Al Batinah and the drama of the Dhofari style).
Alas, none of the Muscat/Batinah or Interior styles really spoke to me (except for the excessively flowy ombre patterned frock pictured directly below this statement). I love the re-styling and flowy cuts but I don't like them to become 100% the same as Indian styling. And usually I get my tops tailored mid-shin not so high, though I understand the models are taller than your average Omani girl, but in the more traditionally structured fabrics you get them tailored super short. Which vies, along with the styling, away from the spirit of why I love Omani traditional pieces so much. BEAUTIFUL, beautiful colours though.
