What is a Hul-Hul?

Muscat Mitchells on her blog "Mitchells In Oman" asked what is an Omani Hul-Hul and what is involved.

It is pretty much a celebration that a baby has reached one year in age since having been named or born and to celebrate, the baby (one year old) is sat down on the floor and popcorn and candies are sprinkled on the baby's head, which the other children at the party eat.

It is also an excuse for mother's and family members to get together and bake sweets, and serve a lunch.
